Latest

September 4, 2026

Rankings Circle place is among people in the Circle again. start.gg finish stays on the Placement label.

Fixed

  • Finished Rankings use Circle place (1st, 2nd, 3rd among members, with ties sharing a number). The start.gg finish is still next to the name as Placement: 5th / 7th / 9th.

1.4.3

September 2, 2026

Fast and Normal start.gg refreshes are farther apart by default, and Circles people are watching can still update as often as every 2 minutes.

Changed

  • Fast defaults to every 3 minutes (6 with more than 50 players). Normal defaults to every 6 minutes (12 for those larger Circles).
  • Circles with a higher view score get a shorter window, down to every 2 minutes on Fast (4 / 8 minutes on Normal for large Circles).
  • Automatic start.gg refreshes stop once the view score fades to zero. Opening the Circle or My Day starts them again. A leftover tab polling in the background does not.
  • When more Circles are refreshing, a lower view score can add up to 50% to that Circle’s Fast or Normal window. The Circle people are watching most is not penalized.

1.4.2

August 31, 2026

Circles are capped at 20 players. Opening a stale Circle asks the schedule worker instead of fetching start.gg from the web process.

Changed

  • A Circle can have up to 20 players. Adding someone on Manage or joining with an invite both count. If you were already listed, opening the view link still joins you.
  • Opening a Circle (or My Day) that is behind on start.gg queues the schedule worker. The page stays on the last copy and updates over the live connection when the worker finishes.
  • Manage Force reload and lab Force refresh queue the schedule worker instead of walking chunks from the web process. The worker keeps going if you leave the page.
  • Adding the first players to a Circle starts that load immediately and shows Loading on Manage and the Circle schedule until their pools appear.

1.4.1

August 30, 2026

Finished Rankings use start.gg place, so 5th / 7th / 9th match the bracket instead of compressing around people who are not in that game.

New

  • Game badges and Rankings art now cover older Guilty Gear (Xrd REV2, XX ACPR), Melty Blood Actress Again, Vampire Savior, Koihime Enbu, Ultra Fight Da Kyanta 2, Virtual-On, and Mystery Game. Event names tagged [Free], [Free/Single Elim], or similar still use that game's art.

Fixed

  • Final placement on Bobtime reflects start.gg's placement calculations.
  • Players who entered start.gg with no account (guest tags) can be added and show on the schedule and Rankings.
  • Completed and archived Circles no longer show a LIVE badge on the schedule, or the Live mark on Timeline.

1.4.0

August 28, 2026

Circle pages have a Rankings tab for live standings and final placement, with gold, silver, and bronze.

New

  • Rankings sits next to Schedule and Timeline, grouped by game. The big number is Circle place. Next to the name is their current round, then a bold start.gg finish (Placement: 2nd) when they are out or start.gg has published a place. Event winners get the gold Winner badge. If they have not played yet, including an unstarted bracket with inferred seed rounds, the place is ? with no medal. First, second, and third in the Circle get gold, silver, and bronze. The Games dropdown is multi-select and defaults to All Games. Click the Circle place for a shareable card you can save as an image. Click Top 3 graphic on a game for a podium banner of first, second, and third, with start.gg profile photos behind the names. Two Circle 1sts put the other gold on the usual 2nd-place stand, same height as center gold. Two Circle 2nds get matching silver stands beside gold; two 3rds share bronze. ?tab=rankings lands there.

Fixed

  • Rankings no longer marks several people 2nd for the same game. Losing Grand Finals is 2nd; losing Losers Final is 3rd. The Grand Final loser also keeps that round instead of staying on Losers Final. Players who are only Registered no longer take 2nd (or a medal) after someone else has a result; they stay ?.
  • Refreshing a Circle on a huge start.gg tournament (many games and brackets, few players) no longer fails when start.gg rejects the event list as too large.
  • My Day loads the saved schedule and waits on worker cycles for live Circles, instead of fetching start.gg over HTTP when the page opens or the live connection is still connecting.

Changed

  • My Day no longer has Refresh or a tappable last-refresh popup. If you have a live or upcoming pool, it shows when the next update is due; otherwise that label is hidden.
  • Help is a scannable guide: an On this page list jumps to Circles, Sharing, Schedule, Timeline, Rankings, My Day, and the rest.
  • Circles people are watching now keep a higher view score (it fades by half every 30 minutes). When refreshes are spaced out, quieter Circles wait longer. After 30 minutes with nobody looking, Fast and Normal also grow by a minute per half hour, up to 10 minutes.
  • Completed and archived Circles no longer show the Updating countdown.

1.3.18

August 28, 2026

Completed Circles on My Circles use the same expandable row as Archive.

Changed

  • Completed Circles are a collapsed Completed row with a count and chevron, like Archive, instead of the hidden-count bar and Show button.
  • When two games share one Bracket wave, Out and LIVE follow that game’s phase, not a sibling that already finished. My Day uses the same rule.

1.3.17

August 28, 2026

Manage can set this Circle as your Active Circle and names the one you have now.

New

  • On Manage, Make Active pins this Circle in the header. If another Circle is already Active, the page names it.

1.3.16

August 28, 2026

Archive from Manage stops refreshes even while an event is still going, and stale events stop updating after 24 hours.

New

  • On Manage, archive still files the Circle under history, and now also turns off start.gg refreshes even if the event still looks in progress.
  • An event stops getting automatic updates 24 hours after its last known time (start.gg end, last wave or bracket), or 24 hours after the last schedule change while it was still running. Relinking or linking a side tournament starts that clock again. Force reload on Manage can check once more.

1.3.15

August 28, 2026

My Circles hides completed events until you want them, then loads them a few at a time.

New

  • Completed Circles no longer sit in the main My Circles list. A Show completed Circles control, like finished waves, expands them below live and upcoming events. The first open loads 10, then Load 10 more or Load 25 more keeps paging.

1.3.14

August 27, 2026

The owner can archive a Circle into My Circles history, or delete it after typing its name to confirm.

New

  • On Manage, the owner can archive the Circle. It leaves the main My Circles list and sits in a collapsed Archive at the bottom. View, join, and calendar links still work. Reminders, My Day, and Active Circle stop until it is unarchived.
  • On Manage, the owner can delete the Circle. A popup asks them to type the Circle name exactly. That removes the Circle for everyone, including view, join, and calendar links.

1.3.13

August 27, 2026

Busy events space start.gg refreshes further apart, and the updated-ago popup now shows the last refresh.

New

  • When many Circles are live at once, Bobtime stretches Fast and Normal start.gg refreshes so the worker can keep up, up to 10 minutes between loads. If the shared GraphQL window has room, those waits shrink back toward the usual Fast/Normal time, and the updated-ago countdown follows. If spacing is still past 5 minutes, the popup warns that refreshes are farther apart.

Changed

  • The Circle and My Day updated-ago popup now shows the last refresh time, labeled Last refresh, instead of the next poll clock.

1.3.12

August 27, 2026

Live Circles update from a background worker, and My Day Refresh sits in the header.

New

  • From two hours before an event through when it is live, Bobtime refreshes that Circle in the background and pushes round moves, advances, outs, wins, and DQs over a live connection. Opening a Circle before that window also starts the worker for an hour, and staying on the page keeps the live updates going. Circles people actually open get priority; even an unopened Circle still gets one load before start so pools can land.
  • My Day Refresh is a button in the top right and walks every player chunk, with the same five-minute cooldown as Manage Force reload. The Circle updated-ago popup no longer has a Refresh button.
  • Timeline round-move lines name the bracket then the game, like “moved from Winners Round 2 to Losers Round 3 in Top 48 in Guilty Gear Strive”.
  • The Circle and My Day updated-ago control now counts down Updating in Xs until the next start.gg load (Updating soon when it is due), then switches to Updating with elapsed seconds while that cycle is in flight.

Fixed

  • The Circle updated-ago control now says Loading, with the same animation as Updating, while the background worker is fetching that Circle. It no longer sits on Updated while start.gg is already loading.
  • The schedule worker waits out start.gg 429s and 5xx/Cloudflare errors with backoff, retries the failed call, and picks Circles back up when the API recovers instead of burning their fetch windows. If the worker starts before the HTTP server, it keeps fetching and retries live webhooks once the server is up.
  • Lab Worker now logs HTTP fetch cycles (page load rotation, catch-up, Refresh) with the same player batch detail as worker cycles, and Run now on a tournament kicks that Circle immediately.
  • My Circles and My Day no longer stay on Happening now after an event is over. An empty later bracket that never went live (Top Cut still sitting as a placeholder) no longer keeps that tournament Active.

1.3.11

August 26, 2026

My Circles no longer marks a live Top Cut as finished.

Fixed

  • My Circles and My Day no longer say Completed while a later bracket is still going. Top Cut, Swiss, and ladders stay Happening now after pool windows, and even if start.gg’s listed end time has already passed.

1.3.10

August 26, 2026

One-round ladders say Ladder even when the phase is not named that, and ADVANCED follows the real phase order.

Fixed

  • A start.gg Matchmaking ladder still shows Ladder for the round and pool badge when the phase is named something else, like Beginners. We use start.gg’s bracket type, not the name, and ignore a high round count when every published set is still Round 1.
  • ADVANCED no longer points the wrong way when start.gg numbers a later cut below the pools - Top 8 after Bracket, even if Bracket is phase 3 and Top 8 is phase 2.

1.3.9

August 26, 2026

Bracket round moves flash green or red like Swiss W–L.

New

  • When a poll or Refresh sees someone move in bracket - Winners Round 2 to Losers Round 3, Losers Round 3 to Losers 4, and the same for named rounds - that round stays bold and green or red for 15 seconds, then fades back. Green is a win; red is a loss, including a drop to losers. If they go Out, the round and the Out badge both flash red the same way.

1.3.8

August 26, 2026

My Circles header drops Set Active and My Day.

Changed

  • Set Active and My Day are no longer in the top right of My Circles. Use Set Active on a tournament card, and My Day from the header nav. Live events that are not already Active use the same Set Active button as next and later events.

1.3.7

August 26, 2026

My Circles shows a stacked game badge on each Circle.

Improved

  • Tournament art on My Circles is smaller, and status, title, date, and location sit on one line with a status badge. Each Circle gets a square badge of the games its players are in, ranked by how many people are in each game. One game is that logo; two or more stack the next games faded behind the top one. Redemption brackets stay off the stack when another game is there.

1.3.6

August 26, 2026

My Circles tournament cards drop game tags.

Improved

  • On My Circles, each start.gg tournament still shows art, dates, and status. Game tags stay on My Day and when you pick a tournament for a new Circle.

1.3.5

August 25, 2026

Later brackets such as Top Cut show even before Circle players are seeded there.

Fixed

  • A ladder into Top 8 (or Top Cut) no longer hides that later phase until someone from the Circle is placed. The section sits after the earlier waves; it fills in when start.gg seeds people.

1.3.4

August 25, 2026

Ladder and Swiss W–L ticks when a result lands.

New

  • When a poll or Refresh sees a new win or loss on a Swiss or ladder row, that count turns green or red, ticks into the next number, stays bold and colored for 15 seconds, then fades back.

1.3.3

August 25, 2026

Swiss and ladders stay on the schedule as live phases, not two-hour pools that hide too soon.

New

  • start.gg ladders (Matchmaking) and Swiss show under that phase name, stay LIVE while start.gg has the phase active, and keep showing rounds. A loss does not mark someone Out; they go Out only when that phase is done and they did not advance.
  • On Swiss and ladder rows, each player shows their W–L after the round in parentheses, like (2-1). A one-round ladder says Ladder (2-1) instead of Round 1, and the badge says Ladder instead of Pool 1.

1.3.2

August 25, 2026

Timeline round-move brackets jump to Schedule, pool badges match Schedule, and gaps in the feed get filled.

Improved

  • On a round-move line, the bracket at the end (moved from X to Y in Z) is a link that switches to Schedule and scrolls there. Game names on advance, out, win, and DQ lines do the same jump.
  • Each Timeline row ends with that player’s pool badge, same labels as the schedule (Pool 2, A1, AC6). It opens that start.gg bracket when the schedule badge would.
  • If Timeline already has some rows, missing advances, outs, wins, DQs, and numbered round moves (Winners Round 4 becomes 1→2→3→4) are filled from the current schedule on poll and Refresh.

1.3.1

August 25, 2026

Timeline can load the full feed in one tap, not only 25 at a time.

Improved

  • Timeline’s bottom links are Load 25 more and Load all, so you can keep paging or jump to the rest of the feed.

1.3.0

August 25, 2026

Circle Schedule and Timeline share a Players filter, and the tab and dropdown bar is smaller.

Improved

  • Players is on Schedule too, the same multi-select as Timeline (one, several, or all, with a search when the Circle is large). Share ?players= with either tab. All Events / Registered / Followed and Games still apply.
  • Schedule and Timeline tabs, plus the Group By switch and filter dropdowns, are a bit smaller so more of the bar fits on one row.

1.2.9

August 25, 2026

Timeline can filter by player, shows clock times in your timezone, and ADVANCED from a Timeline player sheet jumps to Schedule.

Improved

  • Timeline has a Players dropdown, same idea as Games: one, several, or all, with a search when the Circle is large. Share ?players= with the tab URL. All Events / Registered / Followed and Games still apply.
  • Timeline rows are one line each: the player’s name is underlined so it is clear that click opens their pools. Action words (out, won, advanced, DQ) stay bold. Advance from/to phase names are links that switch to Schedule and scroll there. The dotted clock time is event local, like pool times; tap it for device and home times.

Fixed

  • Clicking ADVANCED on a player opened from Timeline now switches to Schedule and scrolls to that phase, the same as from the main list.

1.2.8

August 25, 2026

Circle pages split into Schedule and Timeline, and movement inside a phase now flashes like advances and outs.

New

  • Schedule and Timeline are the Circle tabs. All Events, Registered, and Followed moved into a single-select dropdown next to Games. Timeline is a live feed of round moves, advances, outs, wins, and DQs; click a name to open that person’s pools. It starts with the latest 25, then Load 25 more at the bottom. Live shows only when a later bracket is actually live. Circles that already had results get a one-time fill of advances, outs, wins, and DQs from the current schedule (wave times, not every round move). Share ?tab=timeline to land there.

Improved

  • Polls now flash when someone moves rounds inside a phase, not only when they advance, go out, win, or get DQ’d. Up to eight of those blue notes can show at once. My Day uses “You” for the same updates.
  • On My Circles, Set Next Tournament Active and Set Future Tournament Active are both Set Active, with the skip-forward icon.

1.2.7

August 24, 2026

Online start.gg events with no timezone no longer show tomorrow’s date on My Circles, My Day, and Manage.

Fixed

  • Tournament date labels use the start.gg timezone when it has one. If start.gg left it blank (common for online weeklies), they use your home timezone instead of UTC, so a Monday night NA event does not become Tuesday.

1.2.6

August 24, 2026

The green ADVANCED badge hops to that later phase, same as the “to Top 24” text beside it.

Improved

  • The green ADVANCED badge is a hop now, not only the “to Top 24” (or whichever phase) text beside it. Click either to jump to that wave or bracket.

Fixed

  • A start.gg player with no pool yet no longer blocks that Circle’s schedule refresh on My Day or the Circle page. Everyone else still updates; that person stays unscheduled until start.gg gives them a wave.

1.2.5

August 24, 2026

Circle schedules can group by game, section links copy, and ADVANCED hops to that phase.

New

  • The Circle page has a Time / Game switch. Time (the default) is still waves and later brackets in order, with games inside each one. Game lists each event, with that game’s waves and brackets underneath.
  • Wave, bracket, and game headings have a link icon that copies that section’s URL. A green check flashes in its place, and a toast says the link was copied. Opening one of those links jumps to that section. If that section is in hidden finished waves, they expand first. If your current filters would hide it, an info note says so.
  • ADVANCED to a later phase is a link. It jumps to that wave or bracket on the Circle (Time or Game grouping) and on My Day. Hidden finished waves expand first so the hop can land.

Fixed

  • Opening a Circle no longer flashes Updated just now. That toast waits for a later poll that actually changes the schedule or pin.

1.2.4

August 23, 2026

Advance, out, winner, and DQ updates flash a longer blue note after Updated just now.

New

  • When a poll sees someone advance, go out, win Grand Finals, or get DQ’d, the usual Updated just now flash is followed by a longer blue one that names it, like “Mang0 advanced from Wave A to Top 24 in Super Smash Bros. Melee” or “Hungrybox is out of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate”. My Day uses “You” for the same updates.

Improved

  • Stacked flashes have a little space between them instead of sitting flush.

1.2.3

August 23, 2026

Newly added players show up on the next view or Fast/Normal poll, without a manual Refresh.

Fixed

  • Adding players only appeared after a manual Refresh or a full page reload. Opening the Circle or My Day, or the next timed poll, now loads anyone who is not on the schedule yet.

1.2.2

August 23, 2026

Later brackets show up on the next Fast or Normal refresh instead of waiting for a manual Refresh.

Fixed

  • Advancing from a still-running later phase (Top 24 into Top 8, for example) waited for a manual Refresh. Fast and Normal now ask start.gg again for people who have finished their current phase.

1.2.1

August 23, 2026

My Day puts your current round and result badges after the game name, with the pool on the right.

Improved

  • On My Day, the current round and ADVANCED / Out / Winner badges sit after the game name, and the pool stays on the right by itself.

1.2.0

August 23, 2026

Tournament cards on My Circles and My Day, a gold Winner badge for Grand Finals, and sorting that finally uses your gamer tag instead of your clan prefix.

New

  • Grand Finals winners get a gold Winner badge after their round instead of the grey Out badge. A Grand Final Reset counts too. It shows on the schedule, the next pool card, the player sheet, and My Day.
  • My Circles tournament groups now show the event’s art, dates, location, and game list, the same preview you get when creating or relinking a Circle. Game tags open that event’s start.gg overview in a new tab.
  • My Day is grouped by start.gg tournament with the same art, dates, status, and game tags as My Circles, instead of one flat timeline. Waves stay in time order inside each tournament.
  • More than one tournament can be live at once. Live groups that are not in the header get a Set as Active Tournament button.

Improved

  • Players in a wave sort by gamer tag now, so TSM | Alice sorts under A instead of T.
  • Live versus upcoming uses the start.gg start and end dates when we have them, falling back to wave times, so an event that already started stops getting pushed into Future.
  • The My Day next pool card names the tournament when you have pools in more than one.
  • A player who won is no longer offered as your next pool, because you are done.
  • The large Circle threshold is 50 players everywhere (Fast 2m, Normal 4m). The code said 25 and the help page said 20 in one spot.
  • The updated-ago control is bigger and easier to tap, and role labels on My Circles are badges instead of running into the description with a dash.
  • Renamed the long “Make Active Circle for [tournament]” button to just Make Active.

Fixed

  • Creating and relinking a Circle failed after the tournament preview change. The new event list column was handing Postgres a raw array.
  • The Set Active button no longer shows up on tournaments that are already over.
  • Round labels and the ADVANCED, Out, and Winner badges sat at uneven heights next to each other. They are centered now.
  • The favicon was missing on bobtime.net. Icons are served as a type browsers accept with nosniff on, and there is an SVG icon first in the list.
